Naturopathy

What Is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a non-invasive treatment that works to help the body heal itself through things such as nutrition, massages, aromatherapy, exercise, and herbal medicine. It can seem a little basic and common sense, but the benefit of working with a professional to help us heal and live in a thriving body is most often invaluable!

A Naturopaths’ styles may differ, but they all follow the same philosophy:

DO NO HARM

For example, naturopaths use no strong chemical medicines with strong side effects and do not promote invasive surgery.

TREAT THE PERSON, NOT THE DISEASE

Although we may have the same condition or appearance as another we may not need the same remedies for healing. Naturopaths look at people as individuals to even out imbalances.

TREAT THE CAUSE, NOT THE SYMPTOMS

Unless we get to the root cause of our symptoms, the belief is that we will be faced with a lifetime of medication.

USE THE HEALING POWERS OF NATURE

Naturopaths look to herbs, vitamins, minerals, and lifestyle changes as potent tools against poor health.

Naturopathy Benefits

Whenever we experience imbalances and we see a doctor we tend to be fed pills to fix the issue once a diagnosis has been made. However, this doesn’t account for the root cause that created the condition and it doesn’t heal it. Taking pills may help us feel better for a while, but at what cost? We stagnate our path towards full healing and may have to endure side effects of the treatment we’re in, which tend to show in our physical appearance, as well as our energy levels.

As an alternative, in naturopathy, the practitioner provides a comprehensive screening for any physical imbalances and looks at our overall lifestyle to see where we can adjust things to reach a healthy equilibrium. The goal is to heal the root cause, rather than simply treat a condition. When we take in the right things for our individual bodies and look after them with the care we grow natural beauty, as this helps us absorb nutrients, improve our sleep, eliminate pains and more. A healthy body has skin that glows, eyes that radiate and extra energy, which reflects in how we act.

Naturopathy can also be a great supplement to more conventional medicine. Since naturopaths perform screenings for digestion and gut functions, this can help a person with illnesses in long-term treatments to get the best from their medication, by insuring their absorption pathways are in fine working order.

The Way Naturopathy Works

Naturopathy involves investigating the efficiency of the body’s functions. This is usually done in conversations about lifestyle, as well as through blood testing, digestion tests or other things that may be relevant. While conventional medical testing will usually only produce a result when you have developed an actual disease, the approach with naturopathy means that although you have a certain symptom or condition which is the same as someone you know the investigation method is more comprehensive and may be able to tell you more.

Once the tests have come back the naturopath then tends to prescribe health initiatives for that person, which may include taking specific supplements or herbs, taking a specific form of exercise, eliminating or adding certain things from or to one’s diet and the like. You may or may not need to keep a journal of your energy levels and how you feel. The treatment is always individual, so it’s all about you.

Finding A Naturopath/Practitioner

We’re sure there are many wonderful naturopaths out there and it’s only a matter of finding them. If you’re not sure have an ask around in your local community or see if you can find one with great references online. In the UK the only naturopath Mai has ever worked with was wonderful. Her name is Rhaya Jordan. She’s also a nutritionist and a herbalist, and she is based in London. We’re unsure as to whether she works online, but if you'd like to know more check out her work: Rhaya Jordan. Aside from Rhaya Mai has also worked over a longer period of time with a beautiful being and wonderful practitioner based in Australia called Jacintha Gunasekera. Jacintha specifies in fertility and hormonal health and have been a tremendous support in getting Mai’s cycle into balance and health. If you’re wanting to know more go check out her website here.

An alternative to working with a naturopath or a nutritionist is to tune into your own divine wisdom and take an intuitive approach to create better health and more beauty for yourself. We very much believe in the power of intuitive eating and self-nurture, but do be careful if you’re thinking of purchasing supplements to enhance health and beauty without consulting with a practitioner. For a little guide and a good mindset on purchasing supplements on your own go to our post on supplements here.

“You’re already beautiful, we just want you to thrive by nurturing yourself from the inside out.

There are many beauty treatments and glorifying things out there, but the ones we put forward here are treatments and items that work to support and balance the body. This way the beauty enhancements that arise are a natural effect of a better functioning body, emotional healing and a nourished heart.”

Much love
